The Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services has extended its investigation into accusations that Brad Pitt got involved in an alleged incident involving a child aboard a private plane flying from Europe to L.A. on September 15, E! News reports.

There are reports that said the actor got "verbally abusive and physical with his children" on a private jet.

During that time, Daily Mail said that the family have been on a flight home from France when he allegedly became "wasted" and began "screaming" before continuing the "rant" on the tarmac when the plane landed, trying to leave the scene in a fuel truck.

The alleged incident prompted Jolie to split from the 52-year-old the next day and then file for divorce.

The extension is because of new "key accusations." However, a separate source said that "the information about all sorts of other problems is not accurate."

An insider close to Pitt said: "He takes the matter very seriously and says he did not commit any abuse of his children."

"It's unfortunate that people involved are continuing to present him in the worst possible light."

Also, the FBI has conducted interviews in Angelina Jolie' residence in Malibu with all potential witness, including some of their children. Other witnesses like the flight crew aboard the plane during the alleged incident were also interviewed.

So far, reports claim that there had been an "unintentional contact" between Brad and a child.

Although the investigation is set to continue with more witness interviews, a conclusion regarding the investigation is expected to come shortly. If there is probable cause of child abuse, they will write up reports and pass those along to the U.S. District Attorney who will look at the evidence and decide whether to prosecute.

Whatever the outcome may be, the DCFS' decision will not affect Brad and Angelina's divorce or their custody agreement over their six kids - Maddox Jolie-Pitt, 15, Pax Jolie-Pitt, 12, Zahara Jolie-Pitt, 11, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, 10, and twins Know Jolie-Pitt and Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, 8 - which will have to be decided in family court.
