During a live event on October 28, Apple officially announced that immensely popular-world building title Minecraft is joining the list of apps that will be made available to the fourth generation Apple TV before the end of this year.

Tim Cook, Apple CEO, was the one who made the announcement, although in passing, mentioning only that it will be coming to the device and allow users to build worlds directly on the Apple TV.

As for the Apple TV, Cook adds, "It will completely change how you watch TV with your Apple TV, as well as with your iPhone and iPad,"

There were no other details disclosed, that is why it is still unclear whether it's the Minecraft Pocket version adapted for the device or another version of Minecraft.

IGN adds that the event focused on showing the features of its new Touch Bar MacBook Pro line up. It replaces the function keys on particular models of the new MacBook Pro.

Minecraft was initially released in 2009 and was entirely purchased by Microsoft in September 2014. "The game lets players build in a procedurally generated world either in a game-oriented survival mode, or in a free-build mode with no constraints on materials," according to Apple Insider.

Moreover, it has already existed on almost any device that can output graphics, which plays a huge role on its continued success. It also regularly shows up on the NPD Group's monthly reports of sales figures for the gaming industry in the United States, in spite of NPD not counting digital sales for Minecraft.

The Minecraft Mac version retails for $26.95. There is also a "Minecraft Pocket Edition", an IOS version of Minecraft that exists now. It sells for $7 on the IOS App Store.

The price for the Apple TV is not yet known and will be announced in the days to come.
