Sofia Vergara, who plays the sexy Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on ABC's Modern Family, got engaged yesterday to businessman Nick Loeb.

According to the E! News website account of the details, Loeb popped the question last night in Mexico, where Vergara is currently celebrating her 40th birthday with a week of festivities. The actress and her fiancee are staying at the Rivera Maya, and friends and family -- including some of Vergara's co-stars -- have joined the couple for a dinner at Casa del Lago on Friday followed by drinks at Agave Azul, and a boat ride to Cozumel. There was also another dinner at Punta Bonita. Later today, more than 90 guests will gather for a big party at the resort to toast Vergara. Today is her actual birthday.

Loeb is the founder and creator of Onion Crunch, a food topping. He reportedly proposed to Vergara as they and their birthday entourage were sightseeing at the Chichen Itza Mayan archeological ruins.

Later, Vergara was spotted at the Rosewood Mayakoba resort, where a source told the website "she was bouncing around and showing everyone the ring."

While Vergara may be thrilled, not everyone is happy about her engagement. A website called Wonderwall reports that a source said, "She's the nicest, sweetest, kindest person on the Earth, but she has a thing for bad boys. And she found one with him."

Vergara and Loeb began dating in February of 2010, and though they separated in May for about one month, they are definitely back on.

This will be Vergara's second marriage. She was married to Joe Gonzalez, who she started dating when she was 16 years old, from 1991 to 1993. She and Gonzalez had one child together, son Manolo, who is now 20.
