Marco Rubio Presidential Announcement - The Freedom Tower in downtown Miami has been reserved by Senator Marco Rubio on April 13 for an undisclosed event. The Miami Herald reports that the venue appears to be a potential spot for Marco Rubio's presidential candidacy announcement.

News of the tower as the backdrop for the Marco Rubio presidential announcement was first reported on Friday by the Tampa Bay Times. On Saturday, Bloomberg reported that two Republican sources have confirmed the tower to be a likely spot for the presidential bid.

According to a Rubio adviser, April 13 may be a likely date for the announcement. However, the official said that the date was not locked down and the time and place could still change.  Early next week, aides are reportedly planning to work on putting together several options for both the timing and venue to prepare for a final decision on Marco Rubio's presidential announcement.

The Freedom Tower is a site now housing an art museum. It reportedly holds particular significance for the Cuban American community in south Florida as many immigrants were processed by federal authorities at the place decades ago.

The Rubio team is still considering other locations for the Marco Rubio presidential announcement which are meaningful to the senator, as well as the Cuban community. This includes his West Miami residential neighborhood and one of its parks.

If the Marco Rubio presidential announcement pulls through, Rubio could become the third Republican senator to enter his party's presidential nomination contest, which is beginning to become one of the most wide-open races in the recent election cycles.

Last week, Ted Cruz of Texas reportedly became the first formally declared candidate. Meanwhile, Rand Paul of Kentucky is also expected to announce his plans April 7 in Louisville, according to Bloomberg.

Rubio, 43, is now expected to compete with former Florida Governor Jeb Bush. According to Bush this month, he may not formally announce his own campaign until summer arrives.

The Marco Rubio presidential announcement would make the senator one of the youngest candidates in the field. Considered as a top GOP communicator, he is able to arrest the attention of large audiences, as well as interact with small crowds in town-hall setting types considered important in the first two states to hold presidential nominating contests, Iowa and New Hampshire.

For the Marco Rubio presidential campaign, the first term senator will be joined by his wife Jeanette, their four young children and family, according to NBC News.
