While visiting Savannah in winter may not provide you with as much beautiful scenery than in spring, it does have its pluses. Not being intolerably hot is one of them!   With the milder temperatures that means you can really enjoy that cup of hot coffee or tea after touring all day that much better.  Here are some old and new favorite coffee shops to visit in Historic Savannah.

1. Gallery Espresso

This little Bohemian style coffee shop has been in Savannah since 1993, serving the ever-growing art community downtown and coffee lovers a like.  Hung on the walls are mixed media art works produced by local artists and Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) students.  Try one of their more unique drinks, Maloney's Cappuccino, a wine based Irish Cream, or stick with a more common latte.

2. Foxy Loxy

A rather new addition to the coffee scene in Savannah, the Foxy Loxy is a favorite of local SCAD students.  This is not your normal café.  They serve wine, craft brews, and Tex-Mex desserts! Try one of their Tex-Mex drinks the Mexican Mocha, made with dark chocolate, habanero and cinnamon, or the Horchata Latte, made with Mexican sweetened milk, vanilla and cinnamon.

3. Back in the Day Bakery

A favorite of many locals, this tucked away coffee shop is in the Starland District of Savannah.  This little vintage inspired bakery sells the basics, but done to the ultimate level of quality and some twists on the usuals like lavender shortbread.  Try one of their coffees or lattes with their house made honey-lavender syrup to jazz up your afternoon treat!

4. The Collins Corner

The newest coffee shop in Savannah, opening only six months ago!  Their coffee list is tantalizing! Lavender Mocha, mochas served with chocolate and scoops of ice cream, lattes with cinnamon and spices, Chia tea lattes with hints of Moroccan spices and orange.  Good luck picking just one coffee! And they have a walk up window for those who are on the go!

5. The Sentient Bean Café

The coffeehouse that started it all.  This has been a hub of the artistic community for years.  They are well known for the art shows and events they host in the evenings.  The New York Times says it is "a haven for indie film, live music and literary readings."  Everything is 100% organic and fair trade, and you get a discount for bringing your own mug.
