Hawaii Lava Update - Lava from a volcano on Hawaii's Big Island has reportedly moved another 10 yards toward Pahoa Shopping Center since Saturday afternoon. It was stalled before, but since Friday afternoon, the Hawaii lava update says that it has started moving again and advanced 15 yards.

The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory said in its Hawaii lava update Sunday that the lava from Kilauea Volcano is about 690 yards from the Pahoa Marketplace. They detailed that it was already 0.6 miles from the intersection of Highway 130 and Pahoa Village Road, according to the Associated Press.

According to the observatory, the Hawaii lava update is that the lava flow is also active in several places. Civil Defense officials said that the movement at the flow front is sluggish and the leading edge is a narrow 25 yards wide.

Authorities meanwhile assured residents and tourists of the Hawaii lava update. They said the flow doesn't pose an immediate threat to residents or businesses.

Officials did however warn that the smoke and fog from the volcano could cause respiratory problems for vulnerable people. The Hawaii lava update from authorities are also advising the public to stay indoors, reports CBS Local.

The initial lava flow had been on pace to hit the marketplace around Christmas day. However, it has stopped moving.

The Hawaii lava update had previously said that it stopped moving until advancing 25 yards between Friday afternoon and Sunday morning.
