A JetBlue flight bound for Los Angeles from New York was diverted to Detroit after a very unruly passenger went lunging over seats to get to the aisle, New York Daily News has learned.

One of the worst thing a flight could have is perhaps a very unruly passenger, who does a mid-flight meltdown, causing so much trouble among the crew, pilots and other passengers. This is what happened to a JetBlue flight over the weekend.

According to NBC News, JetBlue's flight 211 was headed to Las Vegas after taking off from New York's Kennedy Airport, when the captain pilot of the plan decided to make a quick landing in Detroit at about 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

JetBlue Airways Corp. said in a statement that the captain's move to divert the flight was due to "an abundance of caution."

What the company was actually referring to is the extreme measures the crew took in an attempt to calm a very unruly passenger, who had a mid-flight meltdown, leading the crew no choice than to wrestle him to the ground and restrain him from going even more hysterical, WABC news noted.

After getting diverted, the man was detained by the authorities, but it is still not clear if criminal charges will be pressed.

FBI Detroit spokesman David Porter said the incident "did not rise to the level of threatening the aircraft," adding that "flight attendants were able to get a handle on the situation relatively quickly."

Although the personal information of the unruly passenger was not released, it has been reported that he was with his daughter and other family members on board the diverted flight. His daughter even incessantly screamed "Dad, stop!" in an attempt to cease her father's violent and unpleasant antics.

Witnesses claimed that the man went hysterical while engaging into a heated debate against his family members, shouting in a foreign language.

Flight 211 was able to arrive in Las Vegas at 11:30 after spending two hours in Detroit, JetBlue said.
