Daily Inspiration: The Dalai Lama Addresses the Senate, Leaves them Speechless

It's not often the Dalai Lama addresses the Senate, but he should do it more often. Last week Senator Patrick Leahy from Vermont, introduced the Dalai Lama and his words left them speechless.

With our thoughts we make our world
Our mind is central and proceeds our deeds
Speak or act with a pure mind
And happiness will follow you
Like a shadow that never leaves

May there be joy in the world
With bountiful harvest and spiritual wealth
May every good fortune come to be and may all our wishes be fulfilled

As long as space remains and as long as sentient beings remain, may I too remain
And help dispel the misery of the world

Side Note: Senator Leahy is the type of politician that should be more common in our world. He works tirelessly with the Senate Judiciary Committee on prison reform and he's a diehard Dead Head — he has not only attended concerts, but has a collection of the band's tapes in his Senate Offices.
