Angelina Jolie Dead?: The Actress is the Victim of Another Celebrity Death Hoax

Angelina Jolie has died via Internet death hoax, according to Media Mass, a web site dedicated to fake celebrity news stories, though the actress is alive and well.

According to Media Mass, the death hoax resulted in the creation of a Facebook page dedicated to condolences. However, the Facebook page they refer to, "R.I.P. Angelina Jolie," was created in September 2012, when there was a previous death hoax claiming she died of an overdose. The about page quoted by Media Mass doesn't exist either.

"YOU ARE SICK!!" a fan posted. "ANGELINA IS ALIVE!"

"Thx is akward do u want jolie 2 die ths is insane," wrote another.

The web site also claims that Twitter is full of discussion about Jolie's demise. However, a quick Twitter search of Angelina Jolie finds that Forbes ranked her the most powerful actress on the celebrity 100 list on June 26. There are also some quotes about death that her fans have tweeted.

"There's something about death that is comforting," Jolie said in a previous interview. "The thought that you could die tomorrow frees you to appreciate life now.

"If I think more about death than some other people, it is probably because I love life more than they do," Jolie said in another interview.

Media Mass also claims that Jolie's reps released a confirmation that she is alive and well, though there is no evidence of this.

The article on the Media Mass web site also credits Jessica Simpson as the writer.

"The 'People' section is a humorous parody of gossip magazines, all stories are obviously not true," Media Mass writes in the "About" section.

Jolie is just the latest in a long line of celebrities to be the victim of an online death hoax. Previous victims include Adam Sandler, Bill Cosby, Cher, Nelson Mandela and Hillary Clinton.  Jolie recently underwent a double mastectomy due to finding out she was at high risk of breast cancer.
