It happens to just about everyone. You make a hotel reservation sight unseen, and when you arrive, your hotel room is not what you were expecting. Maybe the location is too close to a noisy street or the room itself is the size of a closet.
Planning ahead and arriving prepared appears to be the first strategy in getting what you want. Do your research and check out a prospective hotel's website before making a reservation. Read the TripAdvisor reviews about a specific property to see what recent guests have to say about their experience.
If there are multiple buildings at a resort, ask to see a plan of the property, so you can see which buildings are really close to the beach, or are close to a noisy highway.
