TSA Agent Arrested From LAX For Stealing $100 from Passenger
A Transport Security Administration (TSA) agent was arrested in Los Angeles after being suspected of stealing $100 from a passenger, CBS News reports.
Clyde Reese, 47, who works at Los Angeles International Airport was arrested after being suspected of theft at approximately 8 a.m. on Friday, CBS News reported.
NBC News reported that a passenger complained that after going through TSA security at LAX terminal 5 that cash was missing from his wallet. Airport spokesperson, Alex Rodriguez told NBC News that the passenger had put his belongings in the airport bin to go through security.
The Los Angeles Times reported that the passenger noticed that $100 was missing from his wallet after going through TSA screening.
Reese was booked at the 77th Street station Sgt. Karla Ortiz told The Daily Breeze.
The victim's name has not been identified but told the Daily Breeze that his boss gave him $500 for expenses of which $100 was missing.
According to CBS News, TSA spokesperson Nico Melendez said in a statement that TSA "holds its employees to the highest ethical standards and has a zero tolerance for theft. In cases involving theft on duty, it is agency policy to remove the officer immediately from screening duties and terminate the officer from employment."
A TSA spokesperson told The Los Angeles Times that if wrongdoing was found by Reese that he could be fired and would be removed from screening duties.
According to the TSA website the organization is commited to the following values, which in part, Reese has obviously not withheld.
