Biggie Smalls Tribute - March 9 marks the tragic death anniversary of legendary rapper Christopher Wallace, better known as Notorious B.I.G or Biggie Smalls. The Brooklyn-born rap superstar, 24, was shot and killed during a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles.

The murder of the Bed-Stuy native has resulted in shock amongst people in the music industry. The case of his death remains unsolved even after 18 years, reported pix11.com.

His death came almost 6 months after rival rapper, Tupac Shakur, was also shot and killed in Las Vegas. To this day, Shakur's murder remains unsolved as well.

The Biggie Smalls tribute was offered by several celebrities in Hollywood in honor of his legacy.

They took to Twitter, Instagram and other media platforms in order to offer their own version of a Biggie Smalls tribute, reports E! Online.

Bad Boy Sean "Diddy" Combs' Biggie Smalls tribute involved Instagramming a couple of Biggie's throwback photos. He also hosted an event the previous night in memory of his best friend.

Meanwhile, Kendrick Lamar's Biggie Smalls tribute is quite unique. He decided rap in honor of the fallen rapper. Lamar checked in as the first guest on Big Boy's latest show called "LA's Real 92.3" Monday morning, according to the website Revolt.

K.Dot first cited Biggie as a major influence, after which Lamar decided on a freestyle over B.I.G's "The What" instrumental as his Biggie Smalls tribute.

In New York, the Biggie Smalls tribute involved Biggie's ex-wife and R&B singer Faith Evans, his daughter T'yanna Wallace, Lil Cease, Jadakiss and Sheek Louch. According to E!, they have gathered onstage, running through a few hits which featured B.I.G., such as Lil Kim's "Crush On You," and The Lox's tribute cut "Letter to B.I.G."

Of course, the Biggie Smalls tributes wouldn't be complete without some tweets:
