Yakushima, Japan: An Island of Natural Wonders

Settling in the warm, subtropical waters 37 miles south of Kyushu, Japan's third biggest island, the towering mountains and old forests of Yakushima make it a segregated and to a great extent pristine paradise, which feels a world far from the hustle and bustle of Japan's mega cities. Designated a Unesco world legacy site in 1993, the island has long been adored by the Japanese as one of the nation's natural marvels, but it is just in recent years that outside guests have begun to find Yakushima's facts.
