World Health Organization has stated in February 2013 that the risk of person-to-person transmission of MERS Virus UAE is very low. As the virus infects the lungs only, they also added that it would take a lot of virus particles to be inhaled before causing an infection. With that, a speculation about an intermediate host which caused the virus' sudden appearance in the human population is being studied.

UAE Ministry of Interior has released a statement on Friday about the six affected paramedics. A Filipino paramedic eventually died due to the infection from MERS virus UAE while five other paramedics are quarantined after contacting with the virus. Patients treated by the infected people are also being traced.

Despite of the reported case, the Health Authority- Abu Dhabi (HAAD) has issued a statement saying that the current situation is not a public health concern and is now taking measures recommended by the WHO. The Ministry of Health also added that there are no travel bans or any trade restrictions due to the incident.
