Kim Novak Liza Minnelli face singled out at the Oscars proves one thing: in Hollywood, youth will always be the pinnacle for success and acceptance.

Age is just a number, or so they say, for at the Oscars last night, Kim Novak and Liza Minnelli's face got singled out at the Oscars for their current appearance.

Oscar host Ellen DeGeneres started off the night's critical comments. Shortly after she went up stage at the Dolby Theatre where the 2014 Academy Awards was held last night, she kicked off the disparaging monologues and started against Liza Minnelli.

The comedian said "I'm not saying movies are the most important thing in the world. I'm not saying that-because the most important thing in the world is youth."

As many people know Ellen DeGeneres, the lines put off by her were meant to be a joke implicating the entertainment industry's preference for youth. However, as the awards got on, Ellen, perhaps unknowingly, offended some faces more than others.

Ellen took the first punch line as she received Liza Minnelli. She said while welcoming her that the actress in subject is "one of the most amazing Liza Minnelli impersonators I have seen in my entire life." The camera immediately went for the 67-year-old actress's face while Ellen added, "Just really, seriously. Good job, sir."

It's one thing to look young, but it's an entirely different thing if you want to look young and take pains in achieving youthful beauty for long. And Hollywood, as we all know, can be cruel.

Minnelli's face may have undergone surgery countless times, but Ellen's joke about Liza Minnelli being reduced to an imitation of herself was considered immediately an offensive endeavour by both Minnelli and the trans community.

Kim Novak's face was also focused upon after the 81-year-old appeared onstage once again after two decades bearing a much altered state due to extensive plastic surgery. Comedian Rob Delaney ridiculed saying: "Will they have time to edit Kim Novak into the In Memoriam section?"

No old woman who came to the event was safe as even Matthew McConaughey's mother, who only came in support of her child. She received criticisms upon her keyhole-neck gown which provided everyone a peek at her cleavage. Apparently only young women with smooth bosoms are allowed to possess a cleavage and show it. Comments on Twitter are mean as they referred to Matthew's mom's cleavage to be "leathery," "ancient," "inappropriate," and "terrifying."

Meanwhile, 67-year-old Sally Field and 64-year-old Meryl Streep were compared favourably to Minnelli and Novak for aging "gracefully" and "naturally."

When one looks at the whole picture, in Hollywood, people don't actually want Hollywood actresses to look their age. It's still better for leading ladies like Sandra Bullock who's 49, but doesn't "look" like it.

Kim Novak Liza Minnelli face getting singled out at the Oscars just proves that Hollywood is, and forever will be addicted to youth.
