Comedian George Lopez got arrested in a Canadian casino after passing out and recently explained the arrest with a joke.

Lopez may be a well-known and celebrated comic for his generation, but Thursday night was no laughing matter for the talk show host.

A Windsor Police constable told the Daily News that they have received a man into their custody from the Ontario Provincial Police at 11:52 p.m. on Thursday night. He said, "We can confirm that at 11:25 p.m. Windsor police officers received custody of a male from the OPP Casino Enforcement Unit." The man was released without charges and the constable added that he could not relate any further details as to the man's identity.

According to TMZ, the 52-year-old comedian allegedly got arrested at the Caesars Windsor Hotel and Casino in Windsor, Ontario, Thursday night for public intoxication after he was found to have passed out on the casino's floor.

The casino's security soon found the situation, after which they notified the police and Lopez was taken into police custody, according to reports.

As reports go, luck still looks to be on his side after all that has passed as no charges have been filed against the star. Lopez has been in custody to sober up and has been subsequently released with no charges.

Despite all these occurrences, the comedian was brave enough to joke in a statement to PEOPLE and said that he has a perfectly good explanation. "Tied one on last night. Not feeling great this morning," he says. "I was trying to sleep it off, unfortunately, it was on the casino floor."

TMZ reports that prior to Lopez's arrest, the Saint George star had performed at the casino earlier in the evening and performed another one Friday night.

This arrest after passing out in a Canadian casino seems to be a first for George Lopez. Let's just hope there isn't a second one, as these things cannot always be explained with a joke and hope that each time things turn out favourable.
