The Boston Marathon bombing may have occurred over nine months ago, however new stories involving its survivors continue to show spirit in the face of senseless violence. Victims Casey Sherman and Dave Wedge recently chronicled an all-expenses-paid cruise to France's stunning wine country for Esquire magazine, which included bombing survivors, victims' families and first-responders. Funded by Boston-based Vantage Deluxe World Travel, the cruise allowed the 114 survivors who participated to get to know each other, share stories and otherwise enjoy a time of healing while basking in the country's natural beauty. Vantage Deluxe had organized a similar trip for wounded war veterans in the months before the bombings.

Lu and Ling Jun lost their daughter Lingzi on that fateful day, one of the three people killed. While aboard the ms River Discovery II, the parents found ample time to reflect on their daughter's tragic passing and spoke with those who had been wounded from the attacks. As per the Esquire article, the couple befriended Carlos Arredondo, the man photographed in the cowboy hat, moving victim and marathon participant Jeff Bauman away from the finish line. Bauman, who lost both legs below the knee as the result of the bombing, also participated in the cruise.

At the end of the trip, the Juns invited Arredondo to China, which he happily accepted.

All who attended demonstrated what it meant to be "Boston Strong," whether simply hugging one another, discussing how they're dealing with the tragedy, or gathering at French restaurants and pubs for support and fun times. The trip gave everyone who participated what they needed-time with each other and distraction in the form of trip sites and attractions.

The trip will undoubtedly result in lifelong bonds and friendship, with attendees inspiring each other to work through their feelings and move forward.
