Disney announced an "Avatar" themed area to be built inside Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom two years ago, and now they have finally released concept art showing what the new area will look like, according to FOX News.

The new area of the park is the largest expansion in Disney history, according to Tom Staggs, the chairman of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts. The new concept was unveiled in Tokyo over the weekend at the D23 Expo.

"As these concept renderings show in epic scale, in the world of 'Avatar,' guests will encounter awe-inspiring floating mountains and wander through a nighttime jungle of bioluminescent plants that are alive with light and sound," Staggs said. "Guests will also discover what it feels like to soar into the sky riding a Banshee."

The artists rendering of riding on a Banshee shows colorful Banshees that can carry park guests as part of new nighttime shows and rides.

The Animal Kingdom, which is the home of Avatar Land, will stay open later for guests. The Tree of Life will also be transformed into the "Mother Tree" from the film. The park will employ light projections and electronics during the new nighttime experience.

Guests in Avatar Land will also have the opportunity to walk through a jungle filled with bioluminescent plants that are alive with both light and sound. Guests will be able to encounter floating mountains, just as in the film, according to Disney.

Additionally, the artist renderings show guests taking boat rides through a land of the bioluminescent plants as well as other strange fauna.

In addition to the nighttime entertainment in Avatar Land, the park will also have live performances on Discovery Island and a new nighttime version of the Kilimanjaro Safaris.

The Walt Disney Company expects Avatar Land to open in 2017.
