Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) will open a new Star Alliance Lounge on Wednesday, according to USA Today. The new lounge will serve First, Business and Star Alliance Gold Card passengers flying on member airlines.

The new lounge is located in the Tom Bradley International Terminal and can accommodate approximately 400 passengers. It has an exclusive area for First class passengers.

The lounge will be managed by Air New Zealand, the carrier that developed the lounge. It has features that include an outdoor terrace with panoramic views of the northern runway, a water wall and fire pits.

"Lounge access on a global scale is one of the Alliance benefits most sought after and valued by our customers," Mark Schwab, the CEO of Star Alliance, said in a written statement. "The fantastic new lounge in Los Angeles is testimony to the fact that alliances add value over and above what individual airlines can offer."

In addition to the other features the lounge also features a library, a bar, a study, a den, a media room and eight shower rooms.

The opening is "the culmination of a lot of hard work and we look forward to welcoming our Star Alliance customers into this amazing new space," Norm Thompson, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Acting Chief Sales Officer, said in a written statement.

Other amenities included in the new lounge are high-speed Wi-Fi and printing, fax and other copy services, as well as traditional power outlets and USB power ports. Tablet computers are also available to be borrowed upon request.

The lounge features a contemporary design with black and white photography inspired by Los Angeles and taken by photographer Peter Lik. There are locally made products and furniture throughout the lounge, as well as sustainable materials.

The terminal hosts eight star Alliance carriers, including Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines, SWISS and Turkish Air. Air New Zealand will be added in 2014.
