USA Today reported that last week, Orient-Express which is a Burma operator launched a nriver cruise called Orcaella which has seven and 11 night itineraries on Cindwin and Ayeyarwady rivers.

"As Orcaella glides along the the mighty Ayeyarwady or penetrates the Chindwin jungle, this is a journey where every twist and turn reveals a hidden wonder. From world-famous monuments such as Yangon's Shwedagon Pagoda and Bagan's 2,000 temples to remote villages, surprises abound on this voyage of discovery. So relax on deck, soak up the sights and let the magic of Myanmar unfold," says Orient-Express' website.

The 11 night Ayeyarwady River Trip runs from Mandalay to Bagan and cruises near the border of China, the foothills of Yunnan and passes the temples of Bagan.

"Two other seven-night routes run between Bagan and Yangon. An 11-night Chindwin River trip includes a visit to a monastery that houses the Shwe Sagar Buddha, carved from a single trunk of wood 1,000 years ago," reports USA Today.

"Named after the dolphins unique to the Ayeyarwady, this elegant, four-deck ship takes just 50 privileged passengers to the very heart of Myanmar on leisurely seven- and 11-night voyages," says the cruise's website. "Orcaella cruises between Yangon and Bhamo, stopping at key cultural sites and towns, including Bagan and Mandalay, as well as dropping anchor at fascinating, off-the-beaten-track sites. This nimble ship also cruises the Chindwin, passing successive mountain ranges, winding its way through western Myanmar as far north as Homalin, just 36 miles from the Indian border."

The price for the voyage starts at $5,040 per person for a seven-night cruise and includes domestic flights and excursions.

Guests stay in 25 gorgeous cabins that have floor-to-ceiling sliding doors and balconies. The ship has an Observation Deck restaurant, swimming pool, gym and onboard entertainment. Offshore excursions include witnessing a traditional moviciation ceremony of local monks to exploring caves with 492 Buddha chambers carved into the hillside.
