The theme of Love Boat, the 1970s' ABC television show that helped Princess Cruises rise to fame and become a household name is now being turned into a horn for all of their passengers to hear.

"Princess executive vice president for fleet operations Rai Caluori revealed the custom-made horn this week to journalists touring the still-under-construction Royal Princess at a shipyard in Italy," stated USA Today.

Caluori showed that triggering the horn will be very simple--just a press of a button and the first two bars of the song is played.

"The Royal Princess' deck officers only will trigger a Love Boat-themed horn blast at select times such as when the ship departs from a port. The Royal Princess' horn also will be capable of producing a more standard tone at other times when a horn blast is necessary, such as when the ship is traveling through fog or during an emergency," said Caluori, according to USA Today.

This idea didn't just come out of the blue--for years cruise directors have played the song over the public address system to their passengers upon departing port, but it wasn't a fleet-wide policy to do so--now it will be.

The Royal Princess, once finished, will be the company's first new ship in almost  five years and will embark on its inaugural vovage on June 16 in the Mediterranean. It is where the ship will spend the summer season before repositioning to the Caribbean.

"This is a very, very exciting day for us at Princess Cruises," Caluori said during a dockside ceremony to mark the beginning of the float out process. "In little more than just a year, the superstructure that you see behind us will have been transformed into another spectacular member of the Princess fleet."
