Those Marvel fans waiting for the continuation of the "Hulk" movie-series will have to hold out a bit longer.

According to the "Hulk" himself, Mark Ruffalo, speaking, via Twitter, the 45-year-old actor said, "A lot of folks have been asking about the Next Hulk. The next time you see my Hulk it will be in the Avengers 2. No plans for stand alone."

Speculation escalated after a report on Latino Review last month that Marvel Studios was developing a movie based on a popular "Planet Hulk" storyline in which the misunderstood hero is banished to a world where he is forced to fight as a gladiator.

The Disney-owned studio, however, according to New York Daily News, has a full slate ahead with "Iron Man 3" and "Thor: The Dark World" this year; "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and "Guardians of the Galaxy" next year; and "The Avengers 2" and "Ant-Man" in 2015.

Another reason for Disney not to back one more film is the lackluster box-office numbers.

The Hulk also hasn't flexed as much box-office muscle to date when he's not battling alongside his Avengers teammates. Director Ang Lee's "Hulk" (2003) grossed $245 million worldwide, while 2008's "The Incredible Hulk" reboot notched $263.4 million - good, not great numbers for a blockbuster. Before Ruffalo's critically praised and fan approved performance in "The Avengers," there was also the worry of whether or not moviegoers would accept a third Bruce Banner after Eric Bana and Eric Norton had previously played the role, reported New York Daily News.

However, Ruffalo is still confident that he will get one more opportunity to play the "big guy," in a stand-alone performance soon.

"I am not giving up on another stand alone HULK. But it's not in the works right now. One never knows what the future will bring," he said via Twitter.
