"Resident Evil 7's" "Not A Hero" expansion was expected to come out Spring 2017, but the developer will be delaying its release indefinitely, as they need more time to develop it. Capcom also teased that they are working on more contents for the game.

According to a report from GameSpot, the DLC was supposed to star the fan favorite Chris Redfield, who was revealed to be working for the Umbrella Corporation at the end of "Resident Evil 7." But Capcom will now be delaying its release due to DLC still not up to standards.

Koshi Nakanishi, the director of the game, said in an official video that the DLC currently is not yet up to par with the game's standards. "In light of the incredible reception of Resident Evil 7, we concluded that this DLC was not good enough to meet those high expectations," he said.

The game's producer, Masachika Kawata added that they need more time to raise the quality of the content to match "Resident Evil 7." The report said that Capcom assured the fans that the DLC was still going to be available for free but did not state when it would likely be released.

IGN reports that the official video of Capcom not only provided the developer's explanation for the delay of the DLC, but they also teased that more content will be on the way. The executive producer Jun Takeuchi not only echoed the sentiments of Kawata and Nakanishi in the video but said that they are also developing more contents.

He said that they are also working on a "further piece of DLC at the moment." Takeuchi didn't provide much detail about what the other DLC will be about, but did say that they will ensure that it will also be up to the high quality of "Resident Evil 7."
