It looks like Square Enix won't be coming out "Kingdom Hearts 3" this year, as 2018 looks like the target release date for the game. But it's not all that bad as this gives the developer to ensure that the game is truly up to standards.

According to a report from GameStop, the company shared an investor document recently and it highlighted some of the company's major releases. The document showed that "Dragon Quest XI" and "Final Fantasy XII" are going to be released in 2017.

"Kingdom Hearts 3," "Final Fantasy VII Remake," and an untitled Marvel game wasn't given any release dates, likely showing that none of these games will be launched this year. The report said that there is not much surprise here considering "Kingdom Hearts 3" and "Final Fantasy VII Remake" are not on the verge of being released in 2017, director Tetsuya Nomura said earlier this year.

He did say there might be something about the two games that they could share this year. GameRant reports that fans have already been waiting over a decade to play "Kingdom Hearts 3" and it was believed that the game would come out by the end of the year.

Now they'll have to wait a while longer, which is likely to disappoint a lot of fans. However, the report says that this is still considered good news for fans because this shows that Square Enix is not leaving anything to change and will take its time to develop the game.

The likely 2018 release date gives Square Enix enough time to ensure that "Kingdom Heart 3's" new feature, like the enhanced combat system, will be up to the franchise standards when it comes to its games. And with what Nomura said earlier, fans will still have some glimpse of the game they have been waiting for this year.

The "Kingdom Hearts 3" glimpse would likely be held in June 2017, during the E3. Check out the trailer for the game in the video below.
