The Japanese sure know how to make any mundane experience livelier and with more quirks. As part of the 60th anniversary of Moringa Hot Cake Mix, a popular pancake batter in Japan, the Hakone Kowakien Yunessun Spa introduced a special spa experience: guests can relax and soak in a Jacuzzi style bathtub full of maple syrup.

This experience is a limited time offer which will only run until April 25th this year. A tub will be filled with a mixture of maple syrup and vanilla-scented water, and to ensure the ingenuity of the experience, maple syrup will be added three times a day.

Dubbed as a "hot cake bath," guests will surely feel and smell like pancakes after the experience. Aside from this special offer, other kinds of quirky spas and hot tubs are also available at Hakone Kowakien Yunessun Spa, something the establishment is popular for.

Hakone Kowakien Yunessun Spa's other ranges of themed spas include: the Roman-styled Ancient Roman Bath, where the guests will be treated like the Ancient Romans; the Green Tea Spa, where a tub is literally filled with green tea; a Japanese sake spa, a Coffee spa, and they even have a pepper-water filled Ramen Noodle Spa!

To first-timers, they initially thought that these themed spas are mostly just for appearance's sake. But they are often surprised when they discover that the spas are genuine and literal. For example, in the Coffee spa experience, a tub is filled with brewed coffee barrel by barrel, and in the Japanese sake variety, alcohol is really poured in the tub.

Some guests report that they got drunk bathing in these spas, but the management highly advises the public not to drink the waters from the tubs due to hygienic purposes. The same goes as well with the maple syrup spa, however enticing it is.

Hakone Kowakien Yunessun Spa is located in Kanagawa Prefecture near Mount Fuji. For more information about their services, you could check out their website here.
