Winter in Montreal is a snowy wonderland and every year, the city welcomes thousands of electronic music fans for its annual Igloofest.

Located at the Old Port of Montreal the restival bring together " the best local and international DJs, the Igloo Village and its famous "one piece" contest, Igloofest is one of the hottest events in the city and among the most prominent in Canada," states the festival's website.

This year Igloofest is four weekends long: January 17-18-19, 24-25-26, 31 and February1-2, 7-8-9, 2013 from 6:30 to midnight.

The Huffington Post reports that the festival is decorated with brightly colored fake igloos and festive ice sculptures. There are fun tug-o-war contests, open fires for smore making and plenty of alcohol.

Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday the festival hosts new international DJs. "The party isn't happening at some open field outside the city limits, but practically downtown, right on the river in the old part of the city. To preserve some Canadian pride, for every globetrotting DJ that spins at Igloofest, there is a local Canadian DJ spinning the same night on the same stage," says The Huffington Post.

This years mammoth list of artists include the likes of Richie g, Wolf + Lamb, Vincent Gauvin, Miss Kitten, Ellen Allien, Bobby Digital and more. For a full list see here.

Montreal's subway will get you straight to the festival and since Igloofest is in the heart of Montreal's downtown there are myriad hotels and hostels to stay at.

An Igloo pass costs $120 all included, a weekend pass costs $40 and an individual ticket is $18.50.
