After years of waiting, the "Harry Potter" franchise have finally won an Oscar. Thanks to Colleen Atwood, the movie "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" won the Best Costume category. The prequel will be followed with another four installments following its huge success.

The spin-off movie was inspired by a Hogwarts textbook bearing the same name which was written by no other than J.K. Rowling herself. David Yates who directed the last four films of the "Harry Potter" series returned to the franchise to helm the prequel. The movie stars the Academy Award winning actor, Eddie Remayne as the 'magizoologist', Newt Scamander together with Katherine Waterston who took the role of Tina, a witch who previously worked as an auror.

They are joined with Alison Sudol who played as Tina's sister Queenie and Dan Fogler as a No-Maj or Muggle named Jacob Kowalski. The film was set in a 1920 New York City where the protagonists are looking for Newt's magical creatures who recently escaped. The film was nominated in two categories in the latest Oscars where one is the best in production design and best in costume which they won.

This award marks the first of the franchise after 12 previous nominations for different categories like production design, visual effects, cinematography, costumes, makeup and score as reported by Entertainment Weekly. The films failed to take home the prestigious trophy until Atwood's amazing work came to the spotlight. "J.K. Rowling's creation is set in the 1920s, which kind of keyed off a different sort of visual sense, might be the kind of obvious thing," said the four-time Academy award winner.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Atwood was hesitant at first in joining the franchise however she was stirred by the setting of the story saying that the 1920s is a great period to tweak into magic. The blockbuster film grossed $811 million worldwide and will be followed by another installment that will feature Gellert Grindelwald, the second most dangerous Dark Wizard of All Time and second only to Lord Voldemort himself.
