It's not the best news for the dedicated fans of Lionel Richie as they will have to wait until summer to groove and sing along with the singer. The American crooner and record producer postpones his spring tour with Mariah Carey due to a recent knee surgery.

Years of dancing and jumping around the stage in his platform boots have indeed taken toll on the "Hello" hitmaker's body. On 2014, Lionel Richie revealed he went under hip surgery through The Daily Mirror. The singer's hip was replaced leaving him with crippling knee pain and arthritis that he has been battling for some time now.

Richie, who has sold $110M worth of records, said his preexisting knee problem made him undergo another surgery early this year. According to TMZ,  his knee surgery did not heal well leading to complications.

"Unfortunately my recovery from a knee procedure will not have me 100 percent ready to start the tour next month." Richie said in a statement to E! News. The short notice came weeks ahead of the scheduled start date of the tour.  The tour was previously announced to first kick off in  Baltimore on March 15 with special guest appearance of Mariah Carey. But with the singer-songwriter's mishap on his knee surgery, the show was canceled.

However, according to Richie's representative, the show was just postponed and will push back this summer.  "I don't want to disappoint my fans, and I look forward to being back on stage so we can all be 'Dancing on the Ceiling' together again", the legendary musician further added.

The "All the Hits" tour was previously announced in December 2016. It will be Lionel Richie's first tour with the legendary diva Mariah Carey. The joint tour consists of a total of 35 shows that will touch down Chicago, New York, Boston, Detroit and the Hollywood Bowl.  New tour dates will yet to be announce sometime later in March and all previously sold tickets will still be honored.
