Kate Middleton and Prince William's love story is one for the books. Many followers of the Royal Family have developed a kind of love and respect for the Duchess of Cambridge. But little was known that the loved-up pair decided to separate before they reached their engagement.

According to Marie Claire, the pair met at the university where both of them were studying. Their meeting in the St. Andrews was perfect as both of them felt an instant attraction. Prince William revealed that when he met the now Duchess of Cambridge, he felt that there was something special about her.

After dating for a few years, the couple went to Kenya on Safari, spent time skiing at Klosters and their casual dates while at St. Andrews went well. Kate Middleton was invited at the Sandringham for the royal family's traditional lunch during Christmas. Middleton was the first royal girlfriend to be invited for the special occasion.

In 2007, the couple shocked the world when they broke off. Prince William was reported to be not considering marriage yet as he wants to enjoy his singlehood. Kate Middleton at that time was setting her eyes on marrying the Prince.

On November 16, 2010, they officially announced their much-awaited engagement. On April 29, 2011, the whole kingdom witnessed the royal wedding of Prince Charles' eldest son.
