Hollywood is buzzing with excitement with The 89th Academy Awards or popularly referred to as Oscars, is set to go live this Sunday, February 26. Currently hogging the headlines is Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel, who has been provoking a face-off against Matt Damon.  CNN reports that Kimmel scoffed at the possibility of Damon winning an award and claims to stop it from happening.

"Listen, there are certain people who are winners and there are certain people that aren't. I put Matt in the latter category," Kimmel said. "I don't see him getting his grubby, overly moisturized little hands on an Oscar on Sunday night. And if he does, I'll be heartsick," the tv host added.

ABC News confirms reports that Damon is nominated for an Oscar as a producer for "Manchester by the Sea," starring Casey Affleck who happens to be the younger brother of "Good Will Hunting" star Ben Affleck. "Manchester by the Sea" is nominated for six awards including best picture.

"I don't want the film to lose. I want him to lose," Kimmel smugly told ABC News' T.J. Holmes in his exclusive interview with Good Morning America. He also added that he is prepared to face Damon in case they bump into each other at the Oscars.

And just how exactly did this feud start? People traces the rivalry in detail which apparently has been going on for 11 years now, starting from of Kimmel's episodes in December 2005.

"We had a bad show," Kimmel told NPR in 2013. "And I decided to say, for the amusement of one of our producers who was standing next to me, 'I want to apologize to Matt Damon. We ran out of time.'," he narrated.

While people very well know that this so-called rivalry is fake, it nevertheless is worth anticipating. Kimmel is a great host and Damon is a very credible actor.  To be able to have both gentlemen play out this brand of humor will surely make the awards night so much more memorable.
