The console war between Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft have always been a thing since the sixth generation of video game consoles. However, while both the Japanese companies were able to cater to both home console and handheld gamers, Microsoft seems to have no interest in venturing the portable gaming scene and Xbox boss Phil Spencer explains why.

In a recent report from Dual Shockers, it was stated that Xbox Division head, Phil Spencer had his remarks regarding why there was never a portable or handheld Xbox platform, which was mainly about the console, being compared with Sony's. This was briefly explained through his response to one of the fans tweets.

Spencer simply stated that gaming isn't exactly a race between two consoles. He also stated that the publishers aren't working hard on delivering high-quality exclusive games as a form of competitive move against one another. Instead, Spencer's team simply aims to make both Xbox and Windows 10 the best possible outlet for players.

In addition to sharing his insights about the console war, he also made his comment regarding why there was never a handheld Xbox platform after all these years. David Fraley's tweet asked why this was the case and Spencer stated that the audience is more inclined with mobile gaming via smartphones, especially with the capabilities of several handsets, which can even deliver some Xbox 360 games in small bite-size chunks.

Xbox fans can still be confident of what Microsoft will be bringing to the table soon along with the Project Scorpio and as he has recently visited Japan to secure titles, more games are expected for both the original Xbox One variants as well as the upcoming premium platform. This should further expand the audiences that Microsoft already had by offering more games that were developed and published outside the U.S
