After almost two decades of portraying what it seems to be like a lifetime iconic role, Hugh Jackman is all set to hand off his adamantium claws. The "Wolverine" star was reported to be visibly emotional on the set of the  "X-Men" spin-off "Logan".

"Wolverine" is a mutant from "Marvel Heroes" who possesses the ability to not age. And Hugh Jackman is certainly aware that he might soon retract his role to a younger actor, someone who can portray Wolverine's innate characteristic.

For the past two years, Jackman has been hinting that his time playing comic-book superhero will end soon. On 2015 he posted a photo of his hands with the epochal claws, one of the character's recognizable feature, captioning "WOLVERINE...ONE LAST TIME. HJ". This lead many to believe that Jackman's next "Wolverine" movie would presumably be his last.

Following the same year, the actor-producer confirmed the speculation. "This will be my last one", the 48-year-old Aussie actor revealed on the "Dr. Oz" show on 2015. "I never thought in a million years it would last, so I'm so grateful to the fans for the opportunity of playing it", the actor added.

And now the time has come for the actor to finally surrender his iconic role. James Mangold's "Logan" will hit theaters in few weeks. Jackman blurts out to getting emotional on shooting some of the scenes of the "Wolverine"  franchise. The actor confessed to getting teary in the scene where he is piggy-backing Laura, a 10-year-old mutant in the movie, and the moments when he is tending for the cripple, wheelchair-bound Professor X.

It has been a great run for the actor who's been doing the iconic role since 2000. Jackman did a total of eight films including the upcoming movie. While it won't be easy to pull away from a role that inhabited him for 17 years, Jackman admits he will not miss his claw-popping alter ego. "Because he's not going anywhere; he's part of who I am and something I'm very, very grateful for", the "Wolverine" actor explained.

"Logan" is set to premiere on March 3. It is the third and the final "Wolverine" solo film following the "X-Men" film series. Meanwhile, Jackman is also rumored to make an appearance on "X-Men: The Apocalypse". The actor has yet to confirmed.
