Actor Michael Douglas' 34-year-old son, Cameron Douglas is recovering with a broken leg and finger. Cameron is currently serving a nine-and-a-half year prison sentence. The New York Post reported that someone put a $100 bounty on him which is thought to be because someone thought of Douglas as a "rat" possibly after it was revealed that he snitched to police against his drug suppliers.

The Post said that Douglas broke a femur and told the service staff that he got hurt play8ing handball. The Huffington Post reported that Douglas is in jail for charges that are related to selling and smuggling drugs including heroin, prescription narcotics and methamphetamines. The sentence which was originally five years was increased after he was caught trying to smuggle in heroin to prison.

In 2010 Michael Douglas spoke candidly about his son and thought that prison might be a "blessing in disguise," according to The Daily Mail. He took some blame for his son for "being a bad father," and that without prison, Cameron 'was going to be dead or somebody was gonna kill him. I think he has a chance to start a new life, and he knows that."

During the last sentencing when Douglas smuggled in drugs to prison he admitted to court that he was "ashamed" reported The Daily Mail. The judge banned family visits for Douglas for two years and ordered a mandatory drug treatment program in prison.

The Daily Mail reported that Douglas wrte a to the judge and said that he was "saturated in my own shame and penitence." He asked the judge in the letter for "the opportunity to build myself and gain the tools I need to shape my future. I feel so strongly, for the first time in my life, that I am truly ripe for positive reform and real achievement," he said.
