Walt Disney Studio has finally launched "Mary Poppins Returns" at the UK Shepperton Studios as it was announced officially on Friday. This is one of the much-anticipated sequels of Disney's 1964 classic "Mary Poppins" which stars Emily Blunt as the eponymous magical nanny which was created by author P.L. Travers, who took over role from Oscar-winner Julie Andrews.

This sequel will co-star Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer, Julie Waters, Colin Firth, and Meryl Streep. There will also be young actors to appear on the film like Pixie Davies, Nathanael Saleh, and Joel Dawson who will play the three new banks children. On the other hand, the original film star Dick Van Dyke, who is 91 now, is also set to appear on this new film, Variety reported.

This Disney sequel will be directed by Rob Marshall from the screenplay of David Magee. It will be co-produced by John DeLuca and Marc Platt. The songs will be written by Tony-award winners, Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman.

Meanwhile, Blunt is set to play the lead role being the most beloved nanny of the story. "Mary Poppins Returns" story will be about the 1930s depression era in London and is drawn from the wealth of material in PL Travers' seven books. The story will feature Michael (Whishaw) and Jane (Mortimer) who's been fully grown up with three children and their housekeeper, Just Jared reported.

Michael will suffer from a personal loss and the mysterious nanny Marry Poppins (Blunt) will re-enter the lives of the Banks family along with the optimistic street lamp lighter Jack (Miranda). She'll use her unique magical skills in order to help the family re-experience the joy and wonder that they had been missing in their lives. Further, Mary Poppins will also introduce the children into new colorful and whimsical characters like her eccentric cousin, Topsy (Streep).
