The specs for the Moto G5 were released ahead of its supposed release dates. The release of the Moto G5 is highly anticipated given the good reviews received by its predecessor, the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus. The three were often included in the list of best budget phones for 2016, so consumers are expecting that the next release will feature improvements.

Tech Radar reports that the release of the Moto G5 will probably be by May 2017, based on what Motorola has done in the past. The G4 was announced in May 2016 after all. But some sites are claiming that the release might come earlier than expected and that consumers might be looking at a March release instead of May.

Based on the reported leaks, it seems that one big change that will come is the design and build. The Moto G4 and its previous predecessors had a plastic encasing for its body. But some unverified photos claimed that the next Moto G series will feature a metal unibody instead of plastic, with the usual slots for sim cards and microSD. The power button will be placed on the right side edge while the headphone jack is at the bottom, placed near the charging port.

Phone Arena lists down more specific features of the Moto G5. It will reportedly feature a 5-inch 1080p display and Snapdragon 430 CPU. It will run on Android 7.0 Nougat. While the site says that the battery will be at 2800 mAh, some sites say it will actually 3000 mAh. It will have 2GB RAM and has 32 G of expandable storage. As for the camera, this budget phone will have a rear camera boasting of 13 MP, and a front camera which will have 5 MP.

As for the price, expect that the Moto G5 will not cost much, given that it is being advertised as a budget phone. Initial reports say that the lowest range will be at around $188 dollars.
