A number of skins for "Overwatch" not yet seen before have been revealed. The four new skins are inspired by a popular 16th-century Chinese novel.

The four Legendary skins are meant for the Chinese New Year celebration of the multiplayer game. The skins were leaked ahead of the event. Earlier, The Year of the Rooster event was previewed by the developer of "Hearthstone", Blizzard. The teaser showed new Chinese New Year themed skins for Mei and D. Va.

According to gaming website VG247, a Chinese player found an ad for a free event within the game that would last one week in that region. The ad image displayed the new skins. A photo of the ad was posted on the "Overwatch" subreddit. The four revealed skins were modeled after characters from the Chinese novel "Journey to the West".

The ad showed Zenyatta looking like Buddhist Master Tang Sanzang. Three characters from the game appeared to look like his three disciples. Winston was Sun Wukong the monkey king. Reinhardt was Sha Wujing the river monster. Roadhog was Zhu Bajie the immortal soldier turned into a pig creature.

Gaming website IGN reported that so far in any "Overwatch" event, the most number of Legendary skins has been six. The two skins revealed by Blizzard together with the four new skins already equals six so it is unlikely that there will be other Legendary skins coming out.

The date of the event on the advertisement does not indicate when it will end, according to the Reddit user who posted the image. The date for the free trial for players will start on the same date as the announced event on January 24. The one week free trial ends on January 31, according to the ad image.

The Year of the Rooster event is anticipated to last around three weeks just like previous events. The exact date has yet to be announced by the "Hearthstone" developer.

Some players disliked the Santa-themed skin of Mei from the Christmas event. Blizzard promised them that in early 2017, a new skin for her would be given to her. Players who hated the skin can expect her new skin to appear together with the Chinese New Year event of "Overwatch".
