Long-running soap "Days Of Our Lives" became a daily habit for many viewers but new reports indicate that the TV series might face cancellation soon. Although many may link this to the never ending rumors of various shows getting cancelled, the case of "DOOL" is totally different.

The future of the show is currently unclear since NBC's newly hire Megyn Kelly came to the station. Part of her contract with the station is a daytime talk show which may take the time slot of "Days." Since the fate of the show is not related to Kelly, talks are still ongoing about the its possible renewal.

“We haven’t made decisions, but we like that show,” NBC chairman Bob Greenblatt said according to Deadline. “I think we will know more in couple of months. As they age, these shows diminish, there is a lot of delayed viewing and very little linear viewing anymore, you have to keep looking at that.”

He also added that if the show will indeed be cancelled, they will inform the producers earlier as a sign of respect. Greenblatt also admitted that he doesn't think it is already over for "Days Of Our Lives."

Meanwhile, Jennifer Salke, NBC entertainment president said that she would be devastated if the show will indeed be cancelled. She also stressed that no decision had been made about the matter but they are very optimistic about it.

For now, the renewal of the series is at 60-40 chances. At least there are chances for the show to return even if it is "struggling creatively and financially," according to Channel24. The outlet added that even if it will be renewed for season 52, the soap will still say goodbye since it will be the final season.

"Days Of Our Lives" is produced by Sony Television, which also is behind the CBS veteran daytime drama "The Young and the Restless."
