"Resident Evil 7" for the Xbox One will include a free copy of the PC version of the game. If the game is bought digitally it gives two games for the price of one. Buy one copy of the game on Xbox One, get one free on the PC.

According to technology website The Verge, "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" is the latest game to support the Xbox Play Anywhere initiative. Phil Spencer, head of the Xbox division of Microsoft, announced that "Resident Evil 7" would be part of the Xbox Play Anywhere program.

Spencer posted on Twitter that "Resident Evil 7 Biohazard" was confirmed for Xbox Play Anywhere. He repeated the tenet of the program which was buy once, play on Both Xbox One and Windows 10 PC. This means that players who bought the Xbox One digital version can download the game from the Windows 10 Store for free and also the other way around.

The upcoming horror game from Capcom becomes the first prominent third-party title to support the initiative. Games published by Microsoft, such as "Gears of War 4" and "Forza Horizon 3", were the other major releases that were included in the program.

With the participation of the game, buying its digital version on the Xbox One will net a free copy of the game on the PC and allows it to support cloud saves. Technology website Engadget reported that although it is not the first non-Microsoft produced game with the feature, it is the most well-known so far. Indie games "Astroner", "We Happpy Few" and "Ark: Survival Evolved" preceded "Resident Evil 7".

Players have decisions to make when the game is released next week. They can buy a digital copy but it would mean not be getting the excellent box art of the retail package. They also can choose to buy the Xbox One copy even though the PlayStation 4 version will be available in PlayStation VR.
