Gabe Newell finally answered some questions that fans have been holding on when the Valve co-founder participated in the Reddit 'Ask Me Anything' event. The knife enthusiast gave teasers and tidbits about the projects that Valve is working on. One of the most interesting thing is the revelation that the video game developing giant is currently in progress on working on a fully-pledged single player game based on the "Half-Life" and "Portal" universe.

The confirmation came from a query asking the Valve president if the company is developing any full-pledged single player game that he answered at least one is under development. When asked in a different thread if Valve would ever consider revisiting the "Half-Life" and "Portal" in a new title, Newell affirmed that there is a possibility. In short, there will be a single player game. Not "Half-Life 3", but a new game title.

According to PC Gamer, when Newell was asked about the unavoidable topic "Half-Life 3", he just brushed off the fans saying "the number 3 must not be said." He even joked that he personally believed unidentified sources in the internet which says that "Half-Life 3" doesn't exist. Sorry to say but avid fans of the series will be seeing a bleak future for a sequel.

The company's Source 2 engine came to light when a question was asked about the plans of the company in their game engine. Newell claimed that still using the Source 2 engine as their primary game development environment and they are using it in some unannounced products as reported by Polygon. They are also working on expanding the engine into a broader developer community and furthermore make it free of charge.

"Left 4 Dead" has been one of the most popular title of the company and fans base of the series is still hoping for a sequel. When Newell was asked about the future of the series, the president gave a vague answer saying that the game is a good place for creating shared narratives.
