When it comes to food, Hong Kong never fails to surprise its every guest. From pricey, show-stopping cuisine, to cheap but tasty treats- aside from Singapore, Hong Kong is the place to be.

Although some restaurants stand out among the others, there are actually some new kids on the block that are actually worth the visit. Being Asia's "unspoken" food capital, Hong Kong sure draws some interesting yet equally tasty food concepts. Here are some of them:

Mama Malouf. Whoever thought you can get some authentic Lebanese cuisine at the heart of Asia? If you're in Hong Kong and craving for something new, then make sure to check out this newly-opened restaurant in Kennedy Town. For first-timers trying out Lebanese cuisine, the menu can be quite intimidating. But rest assured the staff is very welcome to help you choose the kind of dish that would suit your palate, and would make you squirm in delight.

Alzina Spanish Asador. Spanish Restaurants are not new in Hong Kong and granted, some of them actually make us want to go back, but this newly-opened one in 29-31 Chatham Road South, TST East rose quickly to the stage. Managed by Spanish chef Juanjo Carrillo, delve in their menu and prepare for the onslaught of beautifully cooked Spanish grilled dishes, tapas, paellas, etc. Chef Carrillo used to work in a Michelin-starred restaurant in Spain, so, he knows what he's doing.

Frantzén's Kitchen. Coming out of his safe shell in Sweden, Chef Björn Frantzén has decided to share his culinary expertise with us by building a second branch of his Michelin-starred restaurant, Frantzén, in the heart of Hong Kong in Upper Station Street. Specializing in Nordic cuisine, all food prepared in this restaurant is designed to tickle your taste buds, with the overlapping taste of different Nordic flavors with a small, distinct Asian twist. Try their French toast with truffles, balsamico vinegar, and aged cheese, and the 100-day aged Swedish dairy cow with truffle ponzu, beurre noisette and truffle salt.

Dodam Chicken. Let's take a break from the fancy cuisines and fine dining options in Hong Kong and take a moment to appreciate Korean Fried Chicken. The KFC scene in Hong Kong is quite extraordinary, and the latest addition to their rising family is Dodam Chicken, a premium Korean Brand. And, to appease the guilty eaters out there, Dodam Chicken specializes in serving "healthy fried chicken" so don't worry if you've eaten a whole bucket! Marinated in 27 different herbs and spices, Dodam Chicken is also cooked three times to ensure quality. So if you're in town, make sure to check out their branch in Causeway Bay's Lee Theatre.

Commissary. Experience Southern California and head on to newly-opened Commissary located at Pacific Place. The food scene in SoCal is made up of different styles-from food trucks to casual dining. Here at Commissary, they've decided to take it up a notch and serve delicious American food aside from your usual steaks and burgers. Only the best of SoCal is said to be included on their menu, so you can bet that they're all good. Start off with their clam chowder and devour their mains such as the shrimp and grits, and their famous fish tacos.
