The year 2017 poses a very promising year to "Fairy Tail" fans as Hiro Mashima, the author of the epic fantasy action anime, announced that the franchise will have it's second movie that is slated to release on spring of 2017. The movie will be titled "Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry" which was revealed by the Japanese movie distributor company GAGA.

Looking back, Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine previously announced last May 2015 that "Fairy Tail" will have a second movie adaptation as reported by Anime News Network. Since the manga's debut in 2006, the franchise had only produced a single movie adaptation titled "Fairy Tail the Movie: Phoenix Priestess" which opened in Japan on August 2012.

Unlike other long running anime series, "Fairy Tail" seemed to be slow in releasing feature films but fans are not disheartened by this pace. Fans are thrilled to just see the official site of the movie reveal its sleek title image. An official twitter account was also made so fans can keep up with the film's updates and details.

The popularity of Natsu and the guild didn't lose to other popular animes even with the lack of feature films. Instead, it focused on producing a steady, amazing and breathtaking contents that fans enjoyed. The hit anime series has also been a favorite topic for internet discussions. In fact, they have their own Reddit thread where fans are free to discuss the latest and the upcoming chapters of the series.

Aside from the "Dragon Cry" movie, the TV series also revealed that Hiro Mashima is on a new project that will be out by March. According to Crunchyroll, 2016 has been a big year for Hiro Mashima and "Fairy Tail". The manga celebrated it's 10th year anniversary and the anime has adapted the Zero prequel plus the three OVA story adaptations. They are now opening the next year with a new movie adaptation even with fierce competition ahead.
