Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released on the Xbox One and PS4 but no word yet on its release on the PC and Nintendo Switch. A PC port is likely due to the success of GTA 5 on the PC. A Switch port is not expected.

Laura Kate Dale, a news researcher who has leaked insider information of gaming industry secrets, provides a unique vantage point. She discussed the most likely reasons for the two games not appearing on the Nintendo console.

In a live stream hosted by YouTuber OBE1, Dale revealed a great deal about the upcoming hybrid console. She was asked if Red Dead Redemption 2 and Mass Effect: Andromeda would arrive on the Nintendo Switch.

Though she cited no specific reports or sources, she answered based on her knowledge and appraisal of the situation. She revealed there was little chance that both would be available on the Switch. She said that RDR2 and Andromeda would not be released soon on the upcoming console.

Gaming website GamingBolt reported that Dale gave the reason for Rockstar not releasing their game on the portable/home console as the publisher not having enough trust in Nintendo's system that they would be able to sell well enough on the Switch. She mentioned that they would only reconsider if Nintendo demonstrated that third-party AAA games would sell well on their platform.

For Mass Effect: Andromeda and Electronic Arts, she gave the reason that Mass Effect 3 did not sell well on the Nintendo Wii U. EA and Bioware were disappointed that the Wii U version of Mass Effect 3 sold poorly. For this reason, EA hasn't been enthusiastic about supporting the Switch with more games.

Dale hasn't cited any verified or official sources. Her comments on RDR2 and Andromeda must be treated as the opinion of a knowledgeable insider and analyst.

She did not support her views with specific news or sources. The history of Nintendo's relationship with Bioware and Rockstar supports her statements though. The release of the publishers' games on Nintendo's recent consoles have so far been met with poor sales.

Rockstar Games has had a sparse and uneven history with Nintendo. It has only released less than a handful of games for Nintendo consoles.

Their last game on one of the consoles of Nintendo was on the Wii. Except for GTA Chinatown for the DS, no GTA game has been released for a Nintendo console.

Nintendo still has much to prove even if games like Skyrim are launching on the Switch. If Nintendo succeeds, it's possible that both games eventually appear on the upcoming console.

Nintendo's console launches at a yet unspecified date in March 2017 in all regions worldwide. More details on the Nintendo Switch will be revealed on January 12.
