There is renewed doubts that "Mass Effect: Andromeda" will be released for the Nintendo Switch. That is despite Electronic Arts already confirmed as a third-party partner supporting the Switch.

According to gaming website GameSpot, EA executive Peter Moore said last year that a game from one of the company's major franchises would be released on Nintendo's upcoming console. It now seems likely that "Mass Effect: Andromeda" will not be that game.

Bioware producer Michael Gamble spoke with the Australian gaming news website Stevivor. They discussed "Mass Effect: Andromeda" on current-generation consoles.

They talked about the upgrades for the game on a PS4 Pro. They also discussed if there were any plans for Microsoft's Project Scorpio and the Nintendo Switch.

Gamble said there were no plans for enhancements for the game on the upcoming Xbox Project Scorpio. He said though that he remains open to that possibility.

The Bioware producer had previously implied that the game would not be released on the Switch. News researcher and blogger Laura Kate Dale reported earlier that Andromeda probably would not be released on the hybrid console because of poor sales of Mass Effect 3.

Gamble told Stevivor that Bioware at present, had no plans to release the game on the Nintendo console. He was still open to a release on the Nintendo Switch.

Gaming website Nintendo Insider reported that the producer did not rule out entirely that Andromeda would be ported to the hybrid console. He said that if people really wanted the game on the Switch, Bioware would consider releasing Andromeda on the Nintendo console.

The previous game in the "Mass Effect" series was available on a Nintendo console. "Mass Effect 3" was released on the Nintendo Wii U. The game did not sell well so the developer is not enthusiastic about releasing a game on Nintendo's next console.

"Mass Effect: Andromeda" is the first game in the franchise to be released on current-generation systems. Gamble says that players should expect various improvements and enhancements to the game as compared to previous games in the series.

The Bioware producer cited how space is rendered in the game as an example of the improvements made. He did not mention any specific enhancements for the more powerful PS4 Pro.

He did say though that Bioware usually tries to optimize the game for the strengths of each gaming system. He said that more details on the enhancements would be revealed in January or February.

Though fans hoping to play games from the "Mass Effect" franchise on the Switch may be disappointed with the comments from Gamble regarding the game, they can look forward to an upcoming event. It is only a little over a week before details on the Nintendo Switch is unveiled on January 12.
