"Red Dead Redemption 2" promotional material has been discovered already in the hands of retail outlets. The marketing items for the game can now be found in the real world.

It has been quite a while since any news about RDR2 came out. No new details on "Red Dead Redemption 2" have been released by Rockstar Games. It looks like the year will end without any official updates on the game.

Fans may be starved for information on RDR2 but developers have been steadfast in keeping their silence. Fans may be satisfied to know that news related to the game, has come out.

According to technology website Wccftech, an initial set of promotional materials have arrived at physical retail stores. These brick-and-mortar outlets are located in various countries.

Photos of "Red Dead Redemption 2" posters and cardboard boxes with RDR2 promotional artwork have been found online. These marketing items were shown to have been shipped to retailers.

Gaming website RDR2 reported that the cardboard boxes were labeled with "Autumn 2017". This is instead of just "2017" or "Fall 2017". A PEGI 18 game rating logo can also be seen on some of the marketing materials.

The launch date of the game was officially announced previously.  "Red Dead Redemption 2" was announced to have a release date with a timeframe of late 2017.

The "Autumn 2017" label indicates that the images of the promotional items are not from a North American retailer since "Fall 2017" would be the term they would use. The PEGI game rating scheme is European which indicates a European location.

It is notable that the game has already been rated this early, nearly a year before its release. This shows the advanced preparation of Rockstar for its marketing campaign.

There is no known list of all the retailers who have received the promotional merchandise. Neither is there any list of countries that have been sent the marketing items.

Nothing is even known about the other contents of the shipment of promotional material. So far, all that is available is just photos of the poster and cardboard boxes.

The images came from a Game store in the UK. The promotional items may likely have already been distributed elsewhere. They may now be in the USA and some other nations as well.

Rockstar Games seems to have a strategy to boost the sales of RDR2. This would involve an early promotional campaign in the real world.

Marketing long before the release of the game would allow Rockstar to collect more pre-orders thereby gaining more revenue. Promotions in the real world would also allow the game to be seen by more people.

Marketing materials in the real world could reach people who may not pay attention to online ads or ads featuring video games. There are also people who do not visit websites where gaming ads are usually placed.

Rockstar Games seems to want to duplicate the marketing success of "Grand Theft Auto V." "GTA 5" had a strong promotional campaign with a widespread presence on advertising in physical locations. Rockstar wants to achieve for "Red Dead Redemption 2," the mainstream success that "GTA 5" had.
