Women in bikinis playing basketball? Luckily for straight men around the country, this is actually a real thing. The Bikini Basketball League has been around since 2011 and has seven set franchises in six cities. The teams are Chicago Desire, Orlando LadyCats, Miami Spice, LA Ice, New York Knockouts, Hollywood Hotties and Atlanta Fleet Angels.
Just like the succesfull Lingerie Football League, where buff women play basketball in scantily clad lingerie, Bikini Basketball has its own set of fans.
There have been no games as of yet but the site's website declares that they will be open for business in 36 days.
Other sports leagues such as the Bikini Hockey League and didn't do so well, with only two teams but the Bikini Basketball League is highly anticipated.
Some of the teams are still recruiting and the league says they are looking for women that have real basketball skills as well as good looks. A Miami Spice representative told the Miami New Times, "This is a competitive basketball league, so we are definitely looking for girls that can really play. It is also a bikini league in which the girls will be playing basketball in bikinis, so looking good in a bikini is a must."
Miami Spice are hosting tryouts Saturday, where aspiring bikini basketball players can try out in a sports bra and shorts and showcase their skills to earn a spot on the teams 2013 team. They are looking for 10 to 15 women.
"They can expect to sweat their hair out and have their basketball skills tested. Dribbling, shooting, passing, running, scrimmaging, and more. We will also have a interview process where we ask them an array of questions to see if they have the mind frame and personality that we seek," reps added.
