The upcoming update of Dishonored 2, which adds a New Game Plus mode, has been given a release date. The New Game Plus mode of Dishonored 2 is now available in beta. The new mode allows players to combine Emily and Corvo's powers.

According to gaming websites GameSpot, Polygon, and PC Gamer, the new update for Dishonored 2 will allow players to mix-and-match the supernatural powers of Corvo Attano and Emily Kaldwin. This will be the first of two planned updates.

Publisher Bethesda announced that the next update for Dishonored 2 will launch on December 19. The update will add the New Game Plus mode. The update will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. A beta version is now available for PC players to try.

In the standard playthough of Dishonored 2, the powers of a player's character are unique and exclusive to that character. The New Game Plus mode allows players to replay the game with the skills they obtained in their first play session.

Most importantly, the new mode lets them combine the abilities from the two playable characters. The new mode gives a player access to the powers of both characters as well as any Bonecharm Traits and Runes acquired from previous playthroughs which then can be reassigned to different skills.

The New Game Plus mode can be unlocked by completing Dishonored 2 with either Emily Kaldwin or Corvo Attano. The New Game Plus allows players to begin the game again as either character with access to both their full suite of abilities together with all the Bonecharm Traits gathered from previous game sessions.

Creative director Harvey Smith said in a blog post from Bethesda that they added New Game Plus to Dishonored 2 because Dishonored players have asked for it. The new mode gives players the chance to play with higher-powered characters and to play with abilities that were not available previously. Smith said that the team at Arkane Studios are having fun with the new mode and they hope players will do too.

The upcoming update was supposed to add another feature which was custom difficulty settings but that addition has been delayed to January when another update will be released. That next update will allow players to select missions and replay them. This feature was available in the Bethesda's original Dishonored but is not included in Dishonored 2.
