Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition will not be offered as a free upgrade on the PC. Existing owners of the original Bulletstorm game on PC will not receive the remastered edition for free.

According to gaming website PC Gamer, the original Bulletstorm was a shooter. It was good but not a great game. The game wasn't a huge success but sold decently.

No one expected a follow-up game anytime soon. It was a surprise then when Gearbox announced the Full Clip Edition at The Game Awards.

Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition was revealed at The Game Awards 2016. It is not a sequel to the original Bulletstorm game. The Full Clip Edition is a remaster of the original game released in 2011 that was developed by People Can Fly together with Epic Games and published by Electronic Arts. The remastered version of the game has been updated with hi-res textures, increased polygon counts, sterling audio, smoother framerates, and running in up to 4K resolution on PC and PS4 Pro.

Gaming website GameSpot reported that the upgraded version comes with all of the previously-released DLC along with all-new content. Owners of the original Bulletstorm thought that they could get the Full Clip Edition for free or at least heavily discounted since it was only an upgrade of the original.

According to gaming website VG247, owners of the original game may have expected to be presented with an upgrade discount or even a free upgrade but that is not going to happen. Gearbox has said that an upgrade offer for the remastered game is not possible.

It was confirmed by Gearbox Software founder and president Randy Pitchford that there won't be any option for owners of the original Bulletstorm on the PC to upgrade to the new Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition for free. Pitchford responded to the twitter post of an owner of the original game who was asking if the upgrade edition would be discounted or even free.

The Gearbox founder said that it wasn't possible because the original game had a different publisher, era, platform, and product/SKU. Bulletstorm was originally released by Electronic Arts in 2011 on Games for Windows Live.
