Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, wore an elegant red vibrant dress by Jenny Packham matched with a stunning pair of diamond earrings on Thursday evening at a glittering diplomatic reception in Buckingham Palace. But this time, it wasn't her dress or even her hair that drew the attention of many - it was Princess Diana's signature Cambridge Lover's knot tiara that she wore on top of her head. According to Mirror, it was the second time that the Duchess of Cambridge wore the tiara.

The 34-year-old royalty sported the Tiara stunningly. According to Today news, the Cambridge Lover's knot tiara, which is studded with pearls and diamonds, was given to the late Princess Diana as a wedding gift in 1981. However, the princess was known to complain that the weight of the tiara often gave her headaches.

The diplomatic reception is considered as one of the most awaited events to take place every year at Buckingham Palace. Aside from Duchess Kate, Queen Elizabeth also donned a sapphire-and-diamond tiara, and a blue sash. Despite having been a part of the Royal Family for five years, Duchess Kate seldom wears a tiara. In fact, this is only the fifth time she has worn a tiara. The first time she wore one was on her wedding day when she chose the understated Cartier Halo headpiece.

In 2015, Kate wore a Lotus Flower Tiara for the banquet during a Chinese State Visit. The same tiara was used when she attended the diplomatic reception in 2013. The fourth time she wore a tiara was in 2015 when she attended the diplomatic dinner, and on Thursday night marks the fifth. Usually, there are no photos released from inside the royal annual reception, but this year, Buckingham Palace agreed for a photo taking of the senior royals before the dinner.
