In the next few weeks, the social media platform Instagram will be releasing its most awaited update yet. New features like disabling the comment section, liking a comment, or reporting anonymously will be available.

Instagram has at long last expressed their thoughts in adding tools to let users battle against abuse. The first update the app had provided was the capacity to block specific words in the comment section. Now, the company says that the new features coming in the next few weeks will allow users to remove comments entirely from their post.

According to Instagram's blog post, "advanced settings" menu is where the turn off the comment section can be found and the reverse choice likewise. However, users cannot entirely disable the comments in their account.

The next privacy update Instagram added is enabling the users to remove followers from their list. Accounts that are private can follow the same old procedure when to accepting followers. Aside from users to forcibly block accounts to make them unfollow their accounts, the app allows users to remove followers without notifying them and users are now able to customize their follower's list with this update.

Lastly, in a report by Time, users can now anonymously help their friends who they think is about to harm themselves. An Instagram team will review the reports submitted and connect with the user or groups that can offer help.

"From time to time, you may see friends struggling and in need of support. If you believe that someone you care about may be thinking about injuring themselves," Instagram CEO, Kevin Systrom said, "you can report it anonymously, and we will connect your friend to organizations that offer help."

It's a wonder that online community lends their helping hand into contributing to combat online abuse. Instagram is now giving its part to the community to help its users and also make them want to come back for more.
