Sega has an upcoming side-scrolling video game known as "Sonic Mania", which is set to release in 2nd Quarter of 2017 for Xbox One, Windows and Playstation 4. The gameplay and graphics style of Sonic Mania is akin to the original "Sonic the Hedgehog" installments from Sega Genesis. In "Sonic Mania", players take control of Sonic, Knuckles or Tails and the game features the original and modified stages such as Green Hill Zone and Studiopolis from its predecessors.

In addition, Sonic has developed some new abilities such as Drop Dash that automatically launches him in a spinning roll attack after landing from a jump. According to gamenguide, "Sonic Mania" offers a two-dimensional visual style to players and features a whole new meaning to play the classic game. The non-metallic villain is known as Dr. Eggman, in which Sonic and his gang needs to defeat to progress and finish the game.

In addition, players who will purchase Sonic Mania Collectors Edition on Amazon will get a download code for Sonic Mania, 12-inch classic statue of sony, a deluxe Collector's Box and Sega Cartridge Cast, according to christianpost. The game is believed to be the 25th anniversary present for players, according to IGN.

There was a gameplay trailer that was launced at X West 2016 in which Sonic is able to roll and move up and down to obtain coins in land with green grass and enormous flowers. Likewise, the trailer also featured some tunnel that require Sonic to roll and some instances that shows Sonic leaping along the way. Furthermore, the gameplay trailer showcased Studiopolis, which has a resemblance like greenhill, having buildings, floating bars and machine-operated transport. Once again, "Sonic Mania" will be launched in 2017 for th Xbox One, Playstation and Windows platforms.
